This site is perpetually under construction. While most of the links in the menu
near the top of the page do work properly some have not yet been configured. Some of the links,
for example, say "Google" (or whatever) and send you to a site about UFOs!
Someday everything will work....possibly.
My apologies for the mess!
"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual
beings having a human experience." (Pierre Teilhard De Chardin--1881/1955)
As noted above, I am in the process of redsigning this web site. For a number of years it contained
informational pages - most of which I'd written myself - and it didn't really constitute a "home page" in the
conventional sense. The older pages, to which I just referred, were generally how-tos having to do with things like
P2P file-sharing, manipulating image files, etc. You can still find links to most of those pages in the menu bar at the top
of this page.
After years of running this site I just decided that I wanted to create
a site that was really more of a homepage (with some family pics, links to resources I use frequently, etc.).
About 6 years ago I started making web pages, after work, for fun.
Frankly, after I'd downloaded everything in the universe I became bored with file
sharing and actually turned my attention to how the internet works.
I uploaded my pages to Yahoo GeoCities,
for free, but eventually got tired of the advertising. Then I bought a domain name and hired a
professional web host. Their service was lousy (my email - which they "provided" - didn't work for a month).
They had a million excuses but wouldn't offer me a nickel off my monthly fee for all of the headache.
I won't mention their name - let's just say it was Blue Domino Webhosting.
So, I installed a web server made for Apache called Xitami and attempted to run my own web host.
Xitami crashed about every 6 or 7 hours, without fail. I then installed Apache for Windows but I
didn't like the way it handled file permissions, etc. A friend at work had told me about Linux
and I was totally clueless. He tried to help by explaining that it was "poor man's unix" but
I didn't know what unix was, either.
To make a very long story short I started running my own Linux web server and have found great
enjoyment running a full-featured web and mail servers on
RedHat Linux and Slackware Linux.
That's my story.

Rest in Peace, Daisy....
[November 05, 2008]
On Saturday, October 25th (apparently) my wife and I were away from our home and one of our pets - a cocker spaniel named Daisy - injured herself in our back yard and passed away. We are very sad about her passing.
We really don't have any adult pics - here's a baby pic from about 10 years ago....
Buddy
[November 05, 2008]
Never give a stray dog some KFC chicken that you think is going bad....he will not leave. He will immediately love you and view your home as his own. This is a guarantee. Bad KFC, clearly, beats the hell outta the most expensive dog food
He's been my "buddy" for 6 months now - and we've almost licked his mange. Anybody wanna buy a dog? (originally posted 11/22/2007)
God is Good
[November 04, 2007]
While I am not so hot, God is good everyday. I'm not sure how He manages.........but He does. Every day is a blessing. Thank you, Jesus.
